Yes, I got myself Final Fantasy 8. What is wrong with those people, seriously? If this is not the craziest battle system ever, then I'm not sure I want to know. You can suck stats right out of the monsters! You can basically pin them down and milk them for magic and power till your Playstation overheats. Am I supposed to not be greedy or something? And here I thought I was too obsessive about rearranging everybody's materia in FF7.

And the only way to get empowered, apparently, is to get yourself a GF. I have a feeling that it doesn't actually stand for girlfriend, but I don't much care. Miss Ifrit is delightfully butch.

But really, the dance scene kicked ass. So much. And I adore Zell, and am loving the Garden setting with everything it promises, and judging by the opening cutscene there is an awful lot of Plot to burn through. Yay!

Zell is such a cutie, like an adorable excited puppy. Can't wait to get his backstory, I suppose it's forthcoming? In FF7 every team member got their own shiny angst-filled chapter. Eee, Cid and his clinically depressed not-girlfriend.

Yeah, I have to say FF7 had a stronger start plot-wise and did great with those cutscenes of hideous graphics - they managed to have such an impact despite being not far from matchstik figures. But the cinematics in FF8 are so lovely, and oh, the dance scene. The expressions! Love.

when you get far enough in (RE almost the end) you can get an optional GF called Eden and her special attack causes Squall (she'll only work for him) to go berserk and devour the monsters (all behind a little blur)
ignore the plot, we all do, wait till you hijack a train, try to assassinate a sorceress and then break out of prison all on the first disk.

and the yaoi! oh they had us in mind for that one. although LagunaxSquall sends me running for cover! ugh, incest is bad! even if your dad is hot.

Oh yeah, yaoi! Although the girls are reassuringly not annoying, it's like Cloud and his mini-harem all over again. Squall already has three girls perving on him and he just barely passed his finals! But, Seiferbear and Zell of sheer adorableness eeeeh need to play mooore.

Ehehe thank you. Omg, I's so officially square's bitch now *buys FF9* But I do miss the crazy gang of FF7 charas. There were so very cool. I have a feeling that FF8 is going to stick at the more pretty bishies! long swords! doomed romances! end of the spectrum. Hope I'm wrong though...
