So I've spent Saturday afternoon lounging in the garden with my drawing pad, feeling like a character from Jane Austen. If only I weren't wearing sweats. And, you know, drawing chibi Weiss Kreuz yaoi fanart.
Later we saw this incredible band that had live drums but recorded base. WTF? The singer's voice totally snapped during the third number, but he just seamlessly switched to Brian Adams covers. Weeeell, at least it was for charity. I think. There were two pints of Guinness on top of all that Schnapps by the time I'd asked...
Anyway. I think I've finally found someone in RL to fangirl together with! So far we've found we have U2, Rammstein and several sf authors in common; and of course I have my evil pimping plans for later. Wheee!
Yes, I definitely want more RL fangirliness in my life. I'm sure someone must be local enough...

You lucky thing. My life is devoid of the fannish. ._.

Heh, it seems that I hardly ever meet anyone who doesn't literally jump away at the mention of cartoons and comic books (mentioning anime and manga is safe - most people think it's just nerdy computerspeak). We've been going to AD&D games for a while (fun crowd there), but then eventually the SO came clean and said he doesn't actually like it. Feh.
He's cool actually, a fanboy extraordinaire, but we don't meet on all fandoms and, obviously, yaoi is empathically not his thing.
Well, but we all have each other! *hugs* Not RL, fine, but it doesn't make it less real or anything.

*laughs* Mine is exactly the same way--he got -me- into anime, and then I got myself into yaoi. *innocent*

True--and I love LJ culture--but there's nothing like real-time fangirlism to mock a bad series in. ^____^

Same here! Also, first anime from his collection he's shown me was Urotsukidoji. So I feel he still owes me one even after watching the whole of Weiss Kreuz and Saiyuki with me. (That time he watched Ai no Kusabi was so totally not my fault. I was away, he was bored, he picked it up himself. And it IS sci-fi, dammit!)

Preach it. I have started getting into net fandom because I moved away from my RL fangirlfriends. (There is a silver lining to the situation: I'm exposed to 100% less secondhand Harry/Snape slash.) I really do miss those all-day anime binges, and having people to sponge comics off of.

Oh yes *sigh*. Back in the day we were all about the films. It was such a great time: small business was booming while copywright laws were quetly whimpering in the corner; there was a tiny theatre in every second basement, some of them had small projectors, some - actually a TV in front of a dozen of chairs. And a VCR. And somebody's completely random video collection, emphasis on ancient Bruce Lee, but also anything from Casablanca to Flesh + Blood. We'd all go together and snicker through the whole thing regardless of the content, and then write a round-robin Mary Sue fanfiction during math classes. Good, good times.
Mmm, comics... *fires up mIRC* So can I ask, where are you located nowadays?
Oh, and I personally think the lack of Harry/Snape slash improves the quality of life immensely *shudders*

Words to live by.

where are you located nowadays?

I could've sworn that was in my userinfo , but I guess I forgot to click the little clicky box. At any rate, I am currently in Pennsylvania, although I won't be for much longer. (This is a Good Thing.)
