Speaking of insane theories
Apr. 18th, 2005 01:20 amIt just suddenly came to me how Saiyuki will end.
Gojyo will save the world.
Because see, it the ikkou vs Nii showdown, as far as we know, Nii is one face short. And according to Jung, it's Gojyo who doesn't have a match.
Maybe that's what Kami-sama was for.
And no, I'm not smoking anything, I come up with this stuff alllll on my own!

Date: 2005-04-19 12:37 pm (UTC)Yes, yes, that's exactly how I line them up! Whee! I've found an old link that has nice descriptions, if you're interested: here (http://keirsey.com/matrix.html).
Thing is (Gojyo saving world aside ^_^), somehow the groups of four featuring every temperament are very popular, and I'm not sure if they really make the best teams or just more interesting to write.
You've seen Buffy, right? Season four finale? Mind, spirit, heart, hand - the makings of the perfect being, perfect warrior. (I'd argue with THAT lineup, but some other time)
So Goku would be the hand, Sanzo the spirit, Hakkai the mind, Gojyo the heart.
It's not just what they bring into the group, it's how they perceive the world, too.
Hakkai is so cerebral. "If God exists, he's uncompetent". Patterns, logic - the heart is too small (or too dark) to be trusted.
Sanzo has opinions. Some things Koumyou taught him, some things he's sure of. They do change, but he measures everything against them. He's also the one keeping the group together.
Goku is just HUNGRY. Taste, touch, fight, sunbathe. To quote Minecura: live, live, live.
And Gojyo knows/feels things without having to think them. When he tries, he's stumped himself. Why does he do it? Forgives abuse, saves strays, spares enemies... No good reason at all.
Actually I find socionics etc only a little bit more practical than astrology, but it's definitely a fun tool for critical analysis ^_~

Date: 2005-04-19 01:04 pm (UTC)My biggest block against putting those four in those categories was that I was unsure if Sanzo was actually S or N. He's forced into a guardian role but resents it terribly, I'm not sure that's who he is. Can't come up with concrete example against it at the moment, though. Likewise, Gojyo is N despite his protests, he puts on a flippant hedonistic act that's usually seen as much more of an S-P thing. But he is definitely the idealist, and also right from the beginning (thinking of Rikudo arc in particular) he makes the intuitive leaps that others don't care enough to read into. Hakkai also plays at being less intuitive than he is. Goku's the only one who doesn't wear a mask, really.
I like the mind-spirit-heart-hand analogy too, though it's been quite a while since I've seen Buffy season 4 and I don't remember it clearly. I agree with how you assign them to the Sanzo-ikkou, though.

Agreed!
